Mission

"Enlight Educate aims to support recently immigrated youth successfully integrate into the American education system."

To me, service means the willingness to share the skills we have gained throughout our lives to uplift others. Personally I have found my purpose through my identity as a child of immigrants, with roots in politically turbulent countries like Venezuela and Colombia. The majority of my childhood was marked by a home continuously filled with families seeking asylum. Often cousins in their late teens would come to the U.S. with little to experience speaking English and have to enter an education system completely foreign to their own, missing many of the opportunities crucial to aligning themselves with a fruitful future in higher education and later in the workforce. These experiences throughout my life have sparked a need to support others in similar situations. Thus I have dedicated my time to start Enlight Educate Inc., where we help integrate recently immigrated youth with the American education system through language and subject tutoring, as well as serving as advocates for the students. My service philosophy centers around the belief that any skill, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has the ability to change someone's life if used for service.

In the past year I have focused on growing the following areas. Below I list a few of the accomplishments:

Outreach and Branding:

  • Defined design language for the organization (color scheme, graphic style) and created a logo for Enlight Educate

  • Created website: https://www.enlighteducate.org/

  • Grew social media presence for the organization on Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin

  • Put together student marketing team to continue working on branding for the next year

  • Created flyers and graphics to shared them with local organizations, schools, libraries, and student groups

Fundraising Accomplishments:

  • Created yearly budget for Enlight Educate

  • Lead fundraising initiative, that allowed us to work with a local CPA to register Enlight Educate as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit

  • Worked with Prana Chugani (student pursuing a minor in Nonprofit Organizational Leadership) on creating a general draft for grant applications

  • Connected with Coordinating Solutions Inc, a company that works on ensuring children with disabilities are receiving the proper care from the best providers, resulting in a $2,000 donation

Through our partnership with Prana Chugani, a student pursuing a minor in Nonprofit Organizational Leadership, we have worked on developing the following documents to help raise funds and awareness of our work in Enlight Educate:
